Dewey Play Chess? YES, We Do!
Is your child interested in chess? Whether in kindergarten or fifth grade, playing for fun or competition,
brand-new to the game or experienced, the Dewey Chess Club is a great place to learn and have a great
time!
Held on Monday mornings in the Dewey School Library, our chess club offers professional instruction aided by lots
of Dewey parents. Last year, nearly a quarter of the whole school joined! Students are grouped by experience
and age for instruction, so everyone learns at his/her best pace and with peers.
Chess Club will meet for the first time on Monday, September 21st at 8:00 AM sharp in the library. A parent
should attend the first Club meeting along with his/her child(ren). Parents are encouraged to help out on
other mornings too, whether or not you know chess.
NOTE: Students MUST eat breakfast before attending Chess Club; there are no foods or drinks permitted in
the library.
The cost per child for Chess Club is $40, which includes instruction for the school year and a Dewey Chess
Club t-shirt.
Enroll online HERE.
Please do not forget to send your check, made out to Dewey PTA, for $40 per child who will attend.
If mailing to Dewey School, please write "Chess Club" on the envelope and the check's memo line. You can also hand deliver your check to Jeremy Fox on the first day of Chess Club. If you are unable to pay the entire cost at this time, please send the form in and contact the Dewey school secretary who will confidentially discuss options for you. |
